The Rob Millisor Heart Health Walk

Heart Health Walk

THANK YOU

TO ALL WHO WALKED & RAN WITH US!

Our heartfelt gratitude, thanks and appreciation to all who walked and ran in Rob Millisor’s honor.

We had a GRAND turnout this year with 711 participants (not a final number) with 59 runners, 36 dogs, 15 virtual walkers, and 601 walkers. We exceeded our goal of $150,000 thanks to all of you! We are currently sitting at $158,688 in revenue that will go directly to The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund at The Summit Foundation to support heart health programs, education and research. Thank you for paying tribute and for carrying on Rob’s legacy of supporting and helping others.

Our donation site is still open. Thank you again for the overwhelming support!

The Heart Health Walk was established in memory of Rob Millisor, one of the owner/developers of Breckenridge Grand Vacations. In October of 2015, Rob was on a humanitarian trip to the earthquake stricken area of Langtang, Nepal when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Rob was very physically fit and unaware of any health issues. With the support from Breckenridge Grand Vacations, 100% of every dollar received at this event will be contributed to The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund at The Summit Foundation to support heart health programs, education and research.

This year’s event will once again take place at Carter Park in Breckenridge. Participants will receive an event t-shirt and commemorative gifts, morning snacks and a heart healthy lunch. Additionally, live entertainment, prize giveaways for pre-registered participants, Heart Health/Healthy Lifestyle booths and children’s activities will take place at the park.

Registration check-in begins at 8:30 am on Saturday morning. The 5k trail run will start at 10 am, followed by the 5k trail walk at 10:15 am, and the1 mile town route at 10:30 am. Dogs are welcome; however must be registered, be on a leash at all times and limited to one dog per adult participant.

Event parking will be available in the South Gondola Lot, located just south of the BreckConnect Gondola. Shuttles will take participants to and from Carter Park. Participants may walk (lessthanone mile distance) from the gondola parking lot to the park.

In addition to participating in the event, volunteers are also needed. Simply complete the volunteer opportunity form available on the event registration site. It is possible to both participate in the walk/run and volunteer.

In 2016, more than 1,000 people and dogs participated in the walk and over $200,000 was raised for The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund. Since last summer, several heart health programs have been supported with the event proceeds. Starting last February and continuing in May and June, St. Anthony Summit Medical Center is offering free, monthly heart health screening events in the community. Colorado Mountain College taught heart healthy cooking classes, with more to follow this summer, and the Keystone Science School received support for the CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) Afterschool Program. The CATCH program is designed to promote healthy physical activity and eating behaviors in children. Lastly, a recent grant to Summit Medical Center will be used to purchase an annual supply of Infant CPR Anytime kits. The kits teach lifesaving infant CPR and choking relief skills and will be given to the parents of every baby born at the hospital over the next year.
