PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES

Waste Diversion Efforts Are Ongoing At Our Resorts And Offices

These bins are located in each room and in common areas. We strongly encourage employees to participate
in our composting program and offer
compost bins to owners and guests upon arrival.

Breckenridge Grand Vacations implemented its recycling program in 2013. Since then, the program has grown significantly and BGV’s average annual waste diversion rates meet or exceed the Town of Breckenridge and Summit County averages.  BGV also offers food scrap composting for employees, and guests of the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and Grand Timber Lodge can make use of countertop compost pails available at the Front Desks. In addition, employees have access to an electronics recycling program that collects broken electronic devices in a central location and transports them to the Summit County Resource Allocation Park for proper disposal. When taking into consideration scrap metal, e-waste, compost, glass and comingled recycling, in 2018, our waste diversion rate reached nearly 40%!

The Grand Colorado on Peak 8 works closely with Xcel Energy and other utility companies to  track our usage and make sure all buildings are as efficient as possible. We were awarded Highest Energy Savings – Business Solutions Center by Xcel Energy, recognizing us for our efforts in reducing CO2 productions by 822 tons and energy savings of 1,446,575  kWh in 2018.

BGV is one of the largest shareholders in a community solar power array. Partnering with the TOB, Clean Energy Collective, and PIVOT Solar, we purchase enough renewable energy to offset all our properties and corporate offices by 100%

Adopt a Trail Program

BGV employees are very committed to the conservation and sustainability of the town they live in. On four days each year, BGV employees partner with the Adopt-a-Trail Program of the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District to work to maintain the Peaks Trail, among other trails and wildlife preserves, with 40-50 employees participating annually. Since 2011, BGV has donated $39,000 to FDRD to support this trail preservation work.

Resource Wise is a program offered through the partnership of the High Country Conservation Center, Summit County Government, and the Towns of Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne. The program helps businesses improve their sustainable efforts and increase energy efficiency. Each of our properties have achieved the highest status possible in this program — Gold.

THE SOUL OF BGV IS CREATING SMILES!
