Green Globes Certification
The Green Building Initiative’s (GBI) Green Globes is a comprehensive, science-based certification system that evaluates the environmental sustainability, health and wellness, and resilience of all types of commercial real estate. This versatile three-in-one certification allows building owners and managers to customize their approach, selecting the sustainability features that best suit their building and its occupants. Green Globes certifies buildings that achieve at least 35% of the 1,000 applicable points, ensuring tailored sustainability outcomes based on the building’s type, location, budget, and occupancy needs. The program’s transparent and user-friendly software empowers project teams to import data, monitor performance, and compare building performance across individual structures or entire portfolios.

Pivot Energy
Since 2023, Pivot Energy has been one of our key partners in propelling our resource conservation goals through the transition to clean energy. As a renewable energy provider, Pivot Energy develops, finances, builds, owns, and manages solar and energy storage projects. Located in the Front Range and Western Colorado, our offsite panels help hedge energy costs and meet larger goals allowing us to offset all three of our resorts. BGV’s allotment is 4.9mW, making it the largest in the hospitality sector. This number is equivelent to the energy use of about 5,000 average American homes.

Town of Breckenridge
What began as a non-profit educational organization in 1976, has now blossomed into a stable Summit County Government department consisting of 20 local staff and board members. Beyond their water conservation initiatives, HC3 also focuses on waste reduction and food production. By accepting over 20 different recyclable materials and a variety of waste streams, High Country Conservation has played a pivotal role in diversion, efficiency, and sustainable food production right in our backyard.
Partner since 2016
Climate Action Plan
The Summit Community Climate Action Plan was adopted by Summit Climate Action Collaborative member organizations, and all participating organizations dedicated staff time to participate in development and implementation of the policies, programs and initiatives identified in the plan.
Over a six-month timeframe, the collaborative developed recommended approaches for reducing locally generated GHG emissions, which were then modeled for their emissions-reduction potential. The collaborative solicited input from energy experts and the larger community. The CAP outlines strategies to reduce energy use in buildings, increase the supply of clean renewable energy and reduce emissions from the transportation and waste sectors.
